Former Super Eagles coach and captain, Sunday Oliseh, has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s recent Premier League showdown with Manchester City, Soccernet.ng reports.
The intense clash between the two EPL giants ended in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium, with Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola’s sides sharing the spoils.
Taking to social media, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder highlighted key factors that he believes prevented Arsenal from securing a win.
According to Oliseh, despite Arsenal’s solid organisation and their world-class goalkeeper, a controversial red card decision likely spared Manchester City from suffering a more significant defeat.
“Arsenal deserved victory over Manchester City. This doubtful red card saved Manchester City from a thrashing by a well-organised Arsenal side, in my opinion. Compact, direct playing with a world-class goalkeeper,” Oliseh posted.
The ex-Nigerian international also hinted that the Gunners could be serious title contenders this season.
“Arsenal could be champions this year!” he added.

An opening goal from Erling Haaland and replies from Ricardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhães gave Arsenal the lead, but a red card issued to Leandro Trossard in first-half injury time derailed the Gunners’ momentum.
Reduced to 10 men, Arsenal couldn’t hold off City’s late equaliser from England defender John Stones, leaving both teams to settle for a draw.
