Adam Idah 'wants to fight everyone' - Celtic expert

Celtic striker Adam Idah still has a lot to learn about Scottish football after getting too ‘involved’ with the centre-backs in their 2-1 win over Ross County on Sunday (October 6).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic frontman Frank McAvennie believes the 23-year-old should take a page out of Kyogo Furuhashi’s book and ‘run away’ from defenders rather than want to fight them.

Since his £9.5million move from Norwich City in the summer, Idah is yet to reach the heights he showed during his loan spell at Celtic in the second half of last season.

The Republic of Ireland international had just one shot on target against Ross County and has only managed to score once in 175 Scottish Premier League minutes so far this season.

Idah was instrumental in Celtic’s Scottish Premier League title win last season, scoring eight goals in 15 league appearances, marking the most prolific season of his career so far.

Celtic look well on their way to a fourth consecutive league title, winning all seven of their games so far, scoring 22 and conceding just one.

“Idah wanted to fight the centre-halves”, McAvennie told Football Insider.

“There is lots of them up here you don’t want to get involved with and he (Idah) can run away from them but he doesn’t do it, he wants to get involved.

“It was a little slow and lethargic but he’ll get used to it, get used to when he needs to get involved and when not to.

“Kyogo just apologises to them and runs away from them and that’s the great striker that he is.”
