Alan Rough believes the St Johnstone wingers could pose a “problem” for Rangers in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash.
Philippe Clement relieved some pressure with a 4-1 victory against Nice in the Europa League on Thursday (28 November).
However, with the Light Blues sitting third in the Scottish Premiership behind both Celtic and Aberdeen, he still faces an uphill battle to keep his job.
Speaking on the PLZ Saturday Morning Preview Show [30 November], Alison McConnell labelled the contest a must-win for the Belgian.
Fellow journalist Rough predicted a 3-0 win for the Gers, but added: “I think early on if [St Johnstone] come out the way they’ve been coming, I think they’ll give Rangers a bit of a problem, they’ll press them, a bit more than what they get pressed in Europe.
“Initially, I think St Johnstone will make it difficult but I think Rangers will have too many shots at goal, on or off target, and I think the majority of them will eventually hit the net.”
Philippe Clement still at risk of Rangers sack
The Belgian was likely just delaying the inevitable with the win on Thursday and is still at risk of losing his job in the coming weeks.
New CEO Patrick Stewart will officially start in the role on 16 December and it is likely the Belgian’s fate is decided soon after.
BBC journalist Alasdair Lamont is torn about the idea of sacking the former Monaco man, warning that patience and stability is important.
The next three matches against St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County are all must-win if Clement is to have any chance of saving his job.
However, it may be too late – the Gers being 11 points behind Celtic and nine off Aberdeen is not acceptable and drastic action may be taken if Clement cannot bridge the gap in the coming weeks.
At this point, it feels like a fresh start is needed and that it would be best for both parties to part ways.
