Alvaro Valles has been heavily linked with a return to Real Betis for the majority of the summer. The 27-year-old will not sign a new Las Palmas contract, and if he does not leave before Friday’s transfer deadline, he will spend the next few months (at least) out of first team contention.
It’s no secret that Valles wants to re-join Betis, and he is prepared to wait until his contract expires next summer. However, his expectation has been that a deal would be done before the summer transfer window closes, but according to Manuel Pellegrini, it appears that won’t be the case.
Pellegrini, speaking ahead of Betis’ trip to Alaves on Sunday (via Diario AS), explained that he expects no more business once the expected arrival of Vitor Roque occurs.
“For me the squad has been planned, and it will close with the arrival of a striker. (On Roque) I don’t like to talk about names until the deal is 100% done.”
It remains to be seen how Valles’ situation plays out. Las Palmas have opened the door to him returning, but only if he signs a new contract. Betis would be banking on him not doing so.
