'As a Celtic player...' - BBC pundit gushes over Rangers ace after what he saw him do recently

Rangers midfielder Connor Barron has been praised by former Celtic midfielder Peter Grand after what he noticed in the Old Firm derby.

Despite the Gers losing 3-0 at Parkhead, the former Aberdeen man was lauded for his efforts in the middle of the park.

The 22-year-old moved to Ibrox on a free transfer this summer and started the game against Celtic with Mohamed Diomande and Dujon Sterling in midfield.

Grant, a BBC pundit, said, via Daily Record: “I thought he showed great guts. In all the games I have seen, because it is not easy to play for Rangers just now, and I have been there myself as a Celtic player when you are under pressure as an individual. You’ve got to show guts and fight.

“You can never give too much. The one thing I will say about that kid since he has come to Rangers, yes we can say he runs all over the place and maybe as a midfield player too far and covering too much ground, but he has shown guts, he has never hidden away from the ball, he will make mistakes but will just react to it. That is what you need if you are going to pull on that jersey, same as it is with Celtic.”

Connor Barron has been an important acquisition for Rangers

Gers fans will be thrilled with Barron’s signing due to his demonstrated resilience and effort in high-pressure matches like the Old Firm derby.

Despite the loss, his performance was notable, showing he is not afraid to take on responsibility in crucial games.

His willingness to cover ground and engage high up the pitch, even at the risk of making mistakes, reflects a learning attitude and commitment that fans appreciate.

Early signs suggest he could become a fan favourite for his guts and fight, qualities essential for a Rangers player.

His free transfer also represents good value, potentially offering long-term benefits as he grows within the team.
