Aston Villa backed to complete signing of Ajax 'rock'

Aston Villa have been backed to buy “very good” Ajax defender Kenneth Taylor as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his backline.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Taylor is someone he “could see making a move to the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed that Villa are planning to sign a star centre-back in the January transfer window to improve their defensive options.

Villa are desperate to remain in the Champions League moving forward and believe that adding more quality for the second half of the season would give them the best chance of securing a top-four position.

Football Insider also confirmed that Villa are planning to cash in on several fringe players in the upcoming transfer window to provide finances for new signings.

“He’s a very good defensive rock in that place, if you like,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“Listen, he’s an Ajax player, come through the Ajax academy and he’s a ball player and CDM, he can break up the play.

“He’s got the combative skills that are required to play in the Premier League, but he’s also good, intelligent and a clever footballer as well.

“But the recruitment at Villa has been good.

“The network, the sporting director, the manager, the unity between the football and staff side of things, they don’t often get it wrong at Villa.

“So, Kenneth Taylor is a player that I could see making a move to the Premier League.

“He’s a player that I like, he’s a good footballer.”
