Bardell lauds Tottenham chief Levy for potentially waiving millions with player decision

Dan Bardell has praised Tottenham after allowing Everton to offer Dele Alli a new contract without an upfront payment, potentially waving millions in the process.

Football.London reported on 14 July that an agreement has been reached, meaning the Toffees would not make an immediate payment for the ex-England international.

The deal would include potential add-ons and a sell-on clause but would allow the 28-year-old to stay at Goodison Park moving into the new campaign.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has praised both clubs and shared his hope for Alli to return to his footballing best.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “It’s a classy touch from Spurs and Daniel Levy.

Some things are more important than football and money. If it allows Dele Alli to rebuild his career that’ll be huge. After everything that we know now, he deserves to have that chance to have a good career again.

I think it is good from both clubs and hopefully he can push himself and find the form of old. He used to be one of the most exciting players in the Premier League and he’s had a difficult time in recent years.

I really hope that he goes on to have a successful season with Everton and I’m sure Tottenham are hoping for that too.

Tottenham and Everton reach Dele Alli agreement

Alli joined from MK Dons back in 2015 and was an instant sensation under Mauricio Pochettino in the Premier League.

Since the Argentine departed, things did not pan out as anyone expected for the Englishman, who Jose Mourinho looked to get the best out of.

Things just didn’t work out in North London in the end and his form has followed suit in his recent spell with Everton.

The 28-year-old is training ahead of pre-season beginning and he will be eager to feature for the Toffees this season under Sean Dyche.

Although he won’t be featuring for Spurs next season, all supporters and the hierarchy will be hoping for him to have a successful comeback season.

In other Tottenham news, Ipswich Town have been backed to move for one exit-linked player at the club.
