Champions League club watched 'superb' West Ham player at Euro 2024 and now really want to sign him - journalist

According to a recent report, a Champions League club are keen on signing a West Ham United player this summer transfer window.

West Ham are set to undergo a mini rebuild this summer as they look to align the squad with Julen Lopetegui’s vision.

Like all clubs in the Premier League, they will have to trade in order to bring players in to comply with Profit and Sustainability regulations.

With that said, a David Moyes signing could be on his way out with a Champions League club really interested in signing him.

Galatasaray watched Vladimir Coufal at Euro 2024

According to journalist Mehmet Ozcan, via Haber Sarikirmizi, Turkish champions Galatasaray watched Czechia and West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal at the Euros.

The Champions League club had officials in attendance when he played Turkey and were clearly impressed as Ozcan believes he is now on their radar.

“When I said Wan-Bissaka and Assignon, I learned a different name from England,” Ozcan said.

“West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal. They also watched him against Turkey in the Czechia match.

“He’s a 31-year-old player. He went to the Premier League in 2020 and there’s a certain standard of matching. We know the physicality of the Czech players. He is clearly on the agenda of Galatasaray.”

Vladimir Coufal doesn’t seem to be part of Julen Lopetegui plans

Coufal doesn’t seem to be part of Lopetegui’s plans as he’s reportedly trying to sign Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton, who operates in his position.

The ‘superb’ (as quoted by Hammers News) 45-cap international is an excellent defender but quite limited on the ball – which may not align with the Spaniard’s possession-based brand of football.

Coufal’s contract expires next summer, so now may be the final chance to cash in on him.
