Chelsea have found out who they will be playing in the FIFA Club World Cup next year.

The Blues are one of just two Premier League teams in next year’s revamped competition, along with Manchester City.

Chelsea have been drawn against Brazilian giants Flamengo, Mexican outfit Club Leon and Tunisian side Esperance Sportive de Tunis in Group D.

And a number of Blues fans have made a realisation in wake of finding out who they’ll be up against in the 32-team competition next year.

Chelsea fans buzzing about potential David Luiz and Filipe Luis reunion

Chelsea supporters have realised that the Flamengo fixture could see them enjoy a reunion with two former Stamford Bridge players.

Blues cult hero David Luiz currently plies his trade for Flamengo, who are managed by Filipe Luis, who also played for Chelsea.

Admittedly, Luiz’s contract expires at the end of the year, and it remains to be seen whether he extends his contract at the club.

While Luiz is in the twilight of his playing career, Luis is at the start of his coaching journey – and he’s got off to the best possible start.

The 39-year-old only took the reins in September, but he’s already won his first senior trophy, lifting the Copa do Brasil in November.

Luis took charge of Flamengo’s Under-17s in January before moving up to the Under-20s, with whom he won the U20 Intercontinental Cup in August.

Chelsea are having a solid season under Enzo Maresca and it’ll be exciting to see how they’ll fare against the world’s biggest clubs in the summer.
