Chelsea star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is reportedly ‘allowed to leave’ in the January transfer window despite only being at the club for six months.

The Blues paid £30m to sign the English midfielder from Enzo Maresca’s former club Leicester City in July but he’s struggled for top-flight minutes.

Dewsbury-Hall, 26, has only played 55 minutes of Premier League football across five games under Maresca since he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mail, there is now talk of Dewsbury-Hall being allowed to leave for regular game time, with a return to Leicester mooted.

Chelsea will listen to offers for Dewsbury-Hall, The Mirror have reported, with Blues head coach Maresca happy for the player to depart on loan.

Dewsbury-Hall currently earns £80,000 per week at Chelsea and is under contract at the west London club until the summer of 2029.

It is thought that Chelsea would need to contribute towards Dewsbury-Hall’s wages if he rejoins Leicester on loan.

Dewsbury-Hall initially ‘struggled to accept’ that he was not a starter at Chelsea, Maresca said last month.

‘Kiernan was, at Leicester, the most important player,’ the Italian said. ‘He moved to Chelsea to be one other player.

‘You have to accept that. Probably at the beginning, you struggle to accept that.

‘Now it’s getting better. Me as a manager, I am very happy with Kiernan, no doubt.

‘But for sure for him, he has to continue to work, wait for the chance and take it, in the way he is doing in the Conference League. He is doing OK.’

Dewsbury-Hall has played 14 matches for Chelsea to date across all competitions and scored his first goal for the club in their 4-2 Conference League win over Gent in October.
