Christopher Nkunku 'to be sold by Chelsea' - Fans rage at 'terrible' striker

Christopher Nkunku sparked fury among a number of Chelsea fans frustrated with one particular moment in his side’s Europa Conference League clash with Heidenheim on Thursday.

It has been a tough start to the season for the striker, who has found game time hard to come by in the Premier League this season but has been prolific in Europe, with Football Insider reporting he is unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, Man United have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, and manager Enzo Maresca was forced to dismiss claims the 27-year-old will be sold in the lead-up to this game.

In spite of all that, the striker had still scored 10 goals for Chelsea this season, including six in five Europa Conference games and ultimately did add an 11th in Germany on 28 November, but his overall performance left various supporters happy to see him leave.

With 28 minutes on the clock, the striker received an excellent through ball that found him free in space inside the area.

Nkunku then looked to dink the ball over the onrushing Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Muller, and many will have expected his effort to find the back of the net from close range.

Instead, that effort landed on the roof of the net, as Chelsea failed to find a breakthrough before half time.

Many fans were then quick to lay into the striker for that effort, with many suggesting Maresca should changing his stance over selling the 27-year-old as he will never unseat first-choice Nicolas Jackson up front.

Nkunku did open the scoring on 51 minutes will a well-taken finish from Jadon Sancho’s assist, but then wasted another guilt-edged opportunity 15 minutes later when set streaking clear by Joao Felix.
