Cole Palmer injury update ahead of Chelsea clash vs Bournemouth
Palmer missed the international break with England.
Cole Palmer is set to start Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth this weekend after missing the international break with England.
Palmer was initially called up by Lee Carsley for England’s Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
However, the 22-year-old quickly withdrew from the squad with the Football Association confirming that the midfielder and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins had returned to their clubs ‘to continue their rehabilitation from ongoing issues’.
But Palmer appears to have overcome his injury concerns during the international break with Chelsea confirming that he has taken part in full training this week.
The Chelsea midfielder is expected to keep his starting place as Enzo Maresca’s side travel to face Bournemouth on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho could make his Chelsea debut this weekend following his loan move from Manchester United.
Sancho trained with Chelsea during the international break and Maresca has been impressed with the winger’s impact.
‘I decide the first eleven. It depends on the training session,’ Maresca said on Friday.
‘Jadon is one of our wingers. I’m seeing the exact way I expected of him. He is a very good player in the last third, one-vs-one, quality in the last third, so he is exactly the player we were looking at.
‘It’s a matter of finding the right moment for him and to give him a chance.’
