Daniel Levy dodges Leon Goretzka bullet as Tottenham transfer rejected

Daniel Levy has dodged a major bullet after Leon Goretzka snubbed interest from Tottenham to stay at Bayern Munich in January.

Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported via X on 7 December that the midfielder has decided not to pursue a transfer in the upcoming transfer window despite being a target at Spurs, as well as Manchester United and Napoli.

This, nevertheless, spells good news for chairman Levy as the Germany international is far from what the North London giants need.

Sure, Goretzka has more experience playing at the highest level than most players at Tottenham, having won 12 trophies with club and country.

If Levy is determined to bolster Postecoglou’s options in midfield in January, he should focus on repeating his Dejan Kulusevski trick by snapping up Nicolo Fagioli from Juventus.

According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale [3 December], Spurs, Crystal Palace and Marseille are showing interest in the 23-year-old ahead of January.
