‘Definitely’: Journalist says there’s genuinely a chance £75m Liverpool player leaves

Saudi Arabian clubs are going to cause a storm in the Premier League again this season.

Indeed, last summer we saw the likes of Fabinho, Riyad Mahrez and Aleksandar Mitrovic all head over to the middle-east for big money, and now, another top player could be a target for Saudi Arabia.

Virgil van Dijk has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League as of late, and according to David Lynch, speaking on his YouTube channel, there is definitely truth to these rumours.

Virgil van Dijk to Saudi rumours have legs

Lynch shared what he’s heard about the £75m man.

“Another rumour in terms of outgoings that’s popped up is the potential for Virgil van Dijk to go to Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr. It’s one of those that I think there is definitely truth in this,” Lynch said.

“I know the reporter who broke this, Ismael Mahmoud, has really good sources in Saudi Arabia and I know that story’s been followed up elsewhere. That’s been proven that there’s some legs to it.”

“Liverpool say they’ve had no approach so far, there’s nobody coming in and they wouldn’t welcome one either. They don’t want to make a big sale to get rid of Van Dijk.

“They see him very much as part of the short-term future of the club. At the very least they expect he’s going to be here for the next season and he’s said that himself.”

Every player has a price

Liverpool don’t want to lose Van Dijk, and the player doesn’t want to go, but if there’s anything we’ve learned in football since this Saudi experiment began it’s that money talks.

Indeed, if Al Nassr put the right transfer fee and the right wages on the table, Liverpool would have to consider this bid and Van Dijk would have to consider the move.

With one year left on his deal, Van Dijk is at a crossroads in his Liverpool career, and perhaps a move to Saudi Arabia could be his next step.
