DFL confirms dates and kick-off times for opening matchdays of 2024/25 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2season
The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has announced the dates and kick-off times for Matchdays 1-5 in the Bundesliga and 3-7 in Bundesliga 2 for 2024/25.
As announced when the full fixture lists were released on 4 July, champions Bayer Leverkusen will open the 62nd Bundesliga season away at Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday, 23 August (8.30pm CEST). Matchday 1 also sees Borussia Dortmund host Eintracht Frankfurt in the first Topspiel on Saturday, 24 August (6.30pm). Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich kick off their campaign in Wolfsburg on Sunday, 25 August (3.30pm), ahead of promoted St. Pauli’s encounter with UEFA Conference League qualifiers Heidenheim (5.30pm).
Matchday 2 starts with a Kultclub encounter between Union Berlin and Pauli on Friday, 30 August (8.30pm). Leverkusen play their first home game against RB Leipzig on Saturday, 31 August (6.30pm). After the international break, action resumes with Dortmund at home to Heidenheim on Friday, 13 September (8.30pm), while top-flight newcomers Holstein Kiel get their first taste of a Topspiel when they host record champions Bayern on Saturday, 14 September (6.30pm).
The new UEFA Champions League campaign begins in midweek, followed by Matchday 4 and an encounter with two of last season’s qualifiers VfB Stuttgart and Dortmund on Sunday, 22 September (5.30pm). The UEFA Europa League gets under way during the week after that, before Matchday 5 brings the first meeting of Bayern and Leverkusen on Saturday, 28 September (6.30pm).
