Everton striker Youssef Chermiti has been out with a rare injury that could be a dislocation or a rupture, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that a tendon coming off a toe is certainly not one that’s common among footballers and he’ll only be able to return to training once the discomfort is at an acceptable range.
Sean Dyche has described the Portuguese striker’s setback as a “strange” injury as he struggles to return to full fitness.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Chermiti: “I think he’s using the word ‘strange’ as a synonym for rare injury as he says a tendon ‘came off’ the big toe which could mean a dislocation or it could mean a rupture.
“Prior to returning to the first team, the keys will be can he complete sport-specific training and full training with discomfort levels within the acceptable ranges.
“His first day back in training will likely be partial team training in the controlled drills.“
Youssef Chermiti finds himself in a tricky spot at Everton
Chermiti finds himself in an extremely unfortunate situation as he’s been on the sidelines for numerous weeks now.
The 20-year-old has yet to play a single game this season after making 18 league appearances in the last campaign.
Hopefully, he recovers quickly and can make his highly-anticipated return to the first team and offer the club something different in the final third.
In other Everton news, the club are set to have a new manager next season as multiple players now face an uncertain future.
