‘End product is not forthcoming’: National media wants more from £26m Chelsea player after latest international display

Chelsea have a very strong squad, and it is no surprise that a number of their players are away on international duty at the moment.

Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella all are involved with their respective national teams.

Another Chelsea player who is playing for his national side is Noni Madueke. The winger is part of the England squad.

Madueke started for England against Greece away from home at Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis in UEFA Nations League – League B – Group 2 on Thursday.

The £26 million winger provided the assist for the first goal in a 3-0 win for the Three Lions.

England beat the Republic of Ireland 5-0 at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.

How national media reacted to Chelsea winger Noni Madueke’s performance for England vs Republic of Ireland

Madueke, whose performances for Chelsea have impressed Stephen Warnock, started the UEFA Nations League – League B – Group 2 game. The 22-year-old winger came off in the 75th minute.

It was not one of the best performances from Madueke, linked with Newcastle United in the summer of 2024, and the English media were not overly impressed.

Rating Madueke’s performance 6 out of 10, Metro wrote: “The Chelsea winger certainly looks threatening, with great pace and trickery, but the actual end product is not forthcoming that often.

“The 22-year-old will be a great option to throw on from the bench for England, but he hasn’t really demanded a place in the starting XI.”

The Express gave the Chelsea winger 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Another decent run out for the Chelsea attacker, who has gone from a player on the fringes of the Blues squad last season, to a regular for both club and country.”

The London Evening Standard rated Madueke 6 out of 10 and noted: “Able to beat players down the right, just as in Athens.

“At one point tried to shoot through five bodies when slipping the ball through to Kane was the better option. England scored their third from his corner.”

Noni Madueke’s game in numbers

Madueke did do his best for England against the Republic of Ireland, but the Chelsea winger’s end product could have been better.

The winger took three shots, but none of them was on target. The Chelsea star, though, played four key passes.

Madueke had a pass accuracy of 87.1%, took 56 touches, made two tackles, and put in eight crosses.
