English media reacts to Curtis Jones' England debut as Liverpool star scores superb goal v Greece
The Reds ace had a night to remember!
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has finally made his England debut as he started for Lee Carsley’s charges in their Nations League win over Greece.
After failing to get on the pitch when involved in two previous Three Lions squads, the in-form Anfield ace was handed his bow at the first possible opportunity.
On Thursday night, Jones lined up in a double pivot alongside Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher as the England caretaker boss went for a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The Liverpool ace shone as England ran out 3-0 winners in Athens, scoring a wonderful final goal of the game to wrap up the victory for the visitors.
Jones netted in the 83rd minute with a lovely back-heeled flick after being set up by Morgan Gibbs-White.
Jones’ goal came after Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the seventh minute and Greece goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos scored an own goal on 77 minutes.
The Liverpool man’s goalscoring debut had lots of people talking, and the post-match ratings pieces couldn’t sing his praises highly enough.

What Jones has said about playing for Arne Slot at Liverpool
Jones is having the time of his life playing for Arne Slot at Liverpool, and he was eager to sing the new Anfield manager’s praises.
He recently told reporters: “I feel that I’m at the point now where I’m enjoying it the most that I have.
“I say that in terms of style of play that suits me and the love that I’m getting from the coaches and the staff all around.
“Arne and his staff have come in and the style of play and everything is changing – the way we go and press and stuff. I think it suits me more.
“As a fresh start, I’ll give it everything I can. I’m really enjoying it and the most important thing is that I’m playing with a smile on my face.”
