Wolves striker Fabio Silva, who was on loan at Rangers in the second half of last season, is now wanted by Genoa and Real Betis, according to the Express.

The English tabloid reported on 19 August at 15:23 that Genoa are even set to table a bid for the 22-year-old Portuguese striker.

It’s understood that Wolves want £17million for Silva after he left Ibrox once his loan deal ended and they want a direct sale or a loan with an obligation to buy.

Rangers would not want to re-sign Fabio Silva for even a fraction of that fee

Silva’s loan spell at Ibrox was far from a success, as he struggled to make a significant impact on the team’s performance, particularly in crucial games.

Despite his high price tag and the expectations that came with it, Silva’s contributions were underwhelming, with his performances often criticised for lacking the flair and effectiveness expected from a player of his potential.

Rangers, having seen Silva’s limitations firsthand, would likely not consider signing him even for a fraction of the £17million Wolves are asking.

His inability to consistently influence matches, coupled with the tactical demands of the Scottish Premiership, highlighted his deficiencies.

Given this, it’s hard to fathom how any club would be willing to meet Wolves’ valuation, especially when considering the risk versus the potential return on investment in today’s transfer market.

That said, it’s equally important for Gers to focus on their recruitment and bring in a new striker ahead of the transfer deadline.

In other Rangers news, the club are now mooted to secure the services of a £4.2m full-back in loan-to-buy deal and he’s set to leave in a few days.
