Everton fans to join forces with rivals as fresh protest planned - report

Everton fans will join forces with Manchester United supporters to protest rising ticket rates when the two sides clash at Old Trafford on Sunday, according to Mike Keegan.

The Daily Mail journalist reported via X on 28 November that the fans of the two clubs are planning a protest together on 1 December in the wake of increasing ticket prices.

Liverpool and Manchester City fans will stage a similar protest when those two teams lock horns at Anfield on the same day.

The Toffees and the Red Devils have been far from their best this season as they sit 15th and 12th in the table respectively and would be determined to claim all three points, while their rivalry needs no introduction.

However, their fans have another task in hand as they join hands to express their frustration at the rising ticket prices.

This comes after Manchester United decided to increase their matchday ticket prices to £66 per game without any concessions for children or pensioners [BBC].

The hike in ticket rates is an ongoing problem in football, particularly in the English top-flight, as it prises the working-class attendees out of going to games.

It is refreshing to see the fans of rival clubs come together to voice their opinion against their exploitation and one can only hope that their efforts bear fruit.

Sean Dyche and Co will, meanwhile, be focused on taking at least a point away from Old Trafford as they look to move away from the relegation zone.
