Ex-Rangers star drops unexpected return hint despite Ibrox controversy

Todd Cantwell has hinted he’d like to return to Rangers one day despite enduring a controversial spell at Ibrox.

The 26-year-old left Ibrox for Blackburn Rovers in the summer, bringing to an end a topsy-turvy spell with the Gers.

It is clear that the attacking midfielder still looks back fondly on his time in Govan despite supporters maybe not feeling the same way.

In a story post to Instagram on 20 November, he said: “Such a special club, we had some fun. You hold a massive piece of my heart. Maybe one day again.”

The Englishman made it clear during the most recent window that he didn’t want to stay in Glasgow and eventually forced a move through.

It hasn’t exactly been a dream return for the ex-Light Blues man with Blackburn, making just seven starts in the Championship so far this season.

During that time Cantwell has failed to get on the scoresheet and has provided three assists but given that he turned down Europa League football with he Gers, he may have hoped for better from himself.

With his form hardly ripping up any trees in England, it doesn’t come as a massive surprise that he is reflecting on his time at Ibrox.

There were some positive moments during his spell with the Light Blues but things just ended on a sour note.

Despite this, it appears that the ex-Norwich City man would relish a return to join up with Philippe Clement’s side in the future.
