Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs eyeing up a potential transfer move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, while Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have also scouted the player in recent times.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Gittens is firmly in the sights of Arsenal and Spurs, who have received positive reports on the player after monitoring him in recent games.

The talented 20-year-old has previously had spells in the academies of Chelsea and Manchester City, but his career has really taken off since joining Dortmund in 2020.

The England Under-21 international is now a key player in the BVB first-team, and it’s not too surprising to see big clubs starting to show an interest in luring him back to the Premier League.

Jamie Gittens transfer: Will Arsenal or Tottenham sign the Dortmund youngster?

For now, CaughtOffside understands that Dortmund have no intention of selling Gittens, so it may be that crazy money will be required to get the deal done.

It is felt that it would require at least €60m to even trigger any kind of negotiation with Dortmund, and it’s not yet clear if any of the clubs involved would be willing to go that high.

Still, Arsenal might do well to consider paying up for another quality attacking player, as they looked far less threatening in yesterday’s defeat away to Bournemouth without the injured Bukayo Saka.

Mikel Arteta won’t want to be so reliant on one player up front, so Gittens could be a useful option to ease the burden on Saka, especially as Gabriel Martinelli hasn’t been at his best for some time now.

Spurs, meanwhile, could also do well to keep on strengthening as it’s not yet clear if they’re really on the path to becoming an established top four side with this current crop of players, while Son Heung-min isn’t getting any younger and will surely need replacing at some point soon.
