Exclusive: Crystal Palace make Glasner sack decision after 'panic' reveal

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner will get time to turn the club’s results around after a dismal start to the new season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Eagles lost 2-1 away at Everton on Saturday (28 September), meaning they remain one of five winless sides in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, sources say Glasner has “credit in the bank” at Selhurst Park after his work with Palace last season.

It is believed there is no panic in the boardroom as club chiefs are aware of what the Austrian can achieve with the Croydon outfit.

The 50-year-old succeeded Roy Hodgson in February and won seven of his 13 matches in charge in the 2023-24 campaign.

Glasner took over with Palace 15th and five points above the drop zone and ended the season in 10th, 23 points clear of trouble.

Star man Michael Olise has since departed for Bayern Munich in what has proved to be a big blow for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah is yet to score his first league goal for the club and Jean-Philippe Mateta has been unable to replicate his stellar form from last term.

Glasner, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, is under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026.

Palace are next in action against table-topping Liverpool on Saturday (5 October).
