Since then, Newcastle have been trying to get Gordon tied down to a new deal to fend off potential interest in January and next summer.
And after TBR Football sources said that Gordon is now close to a new deal with Newcastle, we can now reveal exclusive details of the contract.
Anthony Gordon’s new Newcastle contract explained
TBR Football understands that Anthony Gordon has agreed terms on a new six-year contract at Newcastle United.
The former Everton man is set to pen improved and longer terms to remain in the northeast and continue his rise as a top Premier League winger.
Crucially, TBR understands there will be no release clause in the new deal.
That detail will put Newcastle fans at ease, who would have been fearful of Gordon’s new deal simply being a way to insert a high release-clause.
Newcastle had similar issues with release-clauses in the summer as Bruno Guimaraes attracted interest.
