Wolves have had a bid for highly-rated St Mirren youngster Ethan Sutherland rejected, sources have told Football Insider.
The 18-year-old is in the final year of his contract at St Mirren, and a number of clubs in England have been tracking him.
Wolves have firmed up their interest with an offer of £250,000 plus add-ons, which St Mirren have rejected.
Sutherland featured in their most recent Scottish Premiership game, coming on in the 86th minute in Sunday’s defeat against Celtic.
The wide midfielder is versatile and can also play as a left or right full-back and has made 24 professional career appearances.
With Sutherland in the final year of his contract, this transfer window will mark St Mirren’s final opportunity to cash in on him unless the midfield signs a new deal.
Wolves are one of numerous clubs who see Ethan Sutherland’s potential
Sutherland is seen as a talented prospect in Scottish football, and he spent last season on loan at Alloa Athletic.
Sutherland has scored four goals and provided six assists so far in his career but has also shown defensive qualities.
The teenager has played left and right-back, covering a wide range of positions throughout his short career.
Wolves have had a difficult start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, losing both of their opening games.
Their latest defeat was a heavy 6-2 loss against Chelsea, and they will be back in action on Wednesday (28 August) in the EFL Cup against Burnley.
