Bryan King admits he feels sorry for Sean Dyche after the problems the Everton manager has faced during his time at Goodison Park.
The ex-Goodison scout believes the 53-year-old has never been able to manage the Toffees freely.
Dyche’s long-term future at Everton is up in the air, with Alan Nixon reporting via his Patreon [24 November] that Dan Friedkin is lining up a move for David Moyes once he completes a takeover at Goodison Park.
However, according to Alan Myers via Sky Sports News [25 November], the Friedkin Group’s current focus remains on completing their takeover, rather than finding a replacement for Dyche.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – insists that Dyche has never been free of problems during his time with Everton.
“Dyche has been put in an extremely difficult position,” King said.
“Players have been brought in who weren’t first pick for Dyche. Farhad Moshiri has been bringing in poor players, left, right and centre. Therefore, Dyche has had to take that on and he has done a relatively good job under the circumstances.
“I feel sorry for him at that football club because he has never had a free hand to manage. There have always been problems, loss of points, poor players signed.”
Dan Friedkin to replace Sean Dyche at Everton?
Dyche could be sacked within the next couple of weeks.
However, he could also remain at Everton, with his future very much up in the air. Therefore, it could be argued that this is yet another unfair situation which Dyche has been forced to manage.
While some might criticise his style of play, Dyche might feel as though he has to play a certain type of football to get results with his job seemingly always under threat.
As a result, it would be interesting to see just what Dyche would be able to produce if he was offered assurances and a stable environment to work in.
Either way, whether Dyche ends up staying or leaving once Friedkin arrives, he deserves respect at the very least for continually keeping Everton in the Premier League under difficult circumstances.
In other Everton news, the club “can’t afford to carry” Beto after a recent Friedkin transfer admission.
