'Fantastic': Tottenham's Micky van de Ven says there's one Liverpool player he'd love to play with

The Premier League is experiencing its second break of the 2024/25 season which has already provided completely different starts for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Arne Slot could not have asked for much more out of his Liverpool side who sit top of the league having only dropped points in one of their games.
Whereas with Tottenham, there is a lot to be improved having won three, drawn one and losing three of their seven games.
But it is their latest defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion which will frustrate Ange Postecoglou with the Lilywhites allowing a two-goal lead to slip.
With Liverpool sat at the top of the league, Micky van de Ven has admitted there is one player from the Reds who he would love to play alongside.
Who Micky van de Ven loves from Liverpool
Since landing in the Premier league last year, Van de Ven has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs.
The Dutchman has shown his incredible speed with Jamie O’Hara hailing Van de Ven as ‘unbelievable’ following the recent victory over Manchester United.
But there is one player who is currently playing his football at Anfield who Van de Ven is looking up to for inspiration.
Speaking to ESPN during the international break, Van de Ven has shared his admiration for Liverpool defender and fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.
“It’s nice that he says that. I will of course leave it up to the trainer whether he wants to try that out,” he said.
“It will have to be seen whether it is also a good combination. Virgil is of course a fantastic defender, so I wouldn’t mind playing next to him.”
Liverpool did try to sign Micky van de Ven
Since making the move to north London last summer, Van de Ven has become an integral part to Tottenham’s backline.
However, it could have been much different with the Netherlands international believed to be of interest to the Reds.
According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool were keen on signing Van de Ven from Wolfsburg before he landed at Tottenham.
Although the 23-year-old has made a bright start to life in the Premier League, he still has some way to go before ever being compared to his compatriot.
