Forgotten signing to be sold for €21m after playing just 28 minutes for Chelsea
A short-lived spell in the Premier League comes to an end.
Chelsea are set to sell Deivid Washington to partner club Strasbourg after he only played 28 minutes for the Premier League side.
The Brazilian striker arrived at Stamford Bridge from Santos last summer in a transfer worth €16million.
He made just three appearances from the bench late on in games last season – two in the league and one in the FA Cup.
Despite less than half an hour of action for the Blues, the 19-year-old will reportedly make a deadline day switch to Ligue 1.
Strasbourg will break their transfer record by paying Chelsea around €21million for Washington, according to L’Equipe.
Both clubs are owned by Todd Boehly’s American consortium BlueCo.
Washington is set to sign a five-year-deal with the French club.
It’s been a chaotic transfer window for Chelsea and the final day looks set to be no different.
The west London club are looking to offload a whole host of ‘bomb squad’ players who will not make the cut for the season, including Raheem Sterling.
Enzo Maresca’s side have also been linked with yet more incomings with a move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho still possible.
Victor Osimhen is also likely to decide on his future today, choosing between Chelsea and Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ahli, who have already agreed an €80m fee with Napoli.
However, Osimhen is still yet to give the move the green light and also remains in talks with Chelsea.
