Sean Dyche could be offered an extension to his Everton contract by The Friedkin Group if the rest of the season “goes well,” according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported via their website (16 December) that The Friedkin Group haven’t yet ruled out the potential extension of the former Burnley boss’ Goodison Park stay, despite their underwhelming Premier League campaign to date – even accounting for the Arsenal result last time out.

Plenty of rumours have been circulating about his future, but the 53-year-old could yet stay on on Merseyside.

Sean Dyche is the right man for Everton at the moment

With how drawn out the process has been for The Friedkin Group to complete their takeover of Everton from Farhad Moshiri, it now finally feels like an end is in sight.

Last week, it was shared that only the approval from the Premier League’s Independent Oversight Panel (Ben Jacobs, 13 December) is what is halting the announcement of the American businessman’s ownership of the Merseyside outfit.

While fans may want to see a lot of change from their club regarding the players and staff at Goodison Park, the fact they’re almost being dragged into a Premier League relegation battle should be the main thing on their minds right now.

And, if Dan Friedkin was to relieve Dyche of his duties before the end of his contract this season, it’s hard to see who could do a better job of keeping them up than the survival specialist himself.

Additionally, now that the January transfer window is just around the corner, it feels like it would be too much of a rush for the new owners to source a good replacement and have his vision instilled in the club before then.

Beyond this season, though, surely the best option is to part ways and start afresh? That is ultimately a decision the Friedkins have to make in the first half of 2025.

In other Everton news, a Toffees ace could become key to the club’s Premier League survival this season after what Sean Dyche said.
