Henry Winter predicts Everton star to quit Goodison regardless of TFG takeover after news today

Henry Winter is not sure if Everton will spend in January despite positive news about the Friedkin Group takeover.

The American investors were given the all-clear to complete their deal after they were given the Premier League’s approval on Friday. [13 December, Sky Sports]

The group that is led by Dan Friedkin are now set to take a 94.1 per cent stake in the Blues from current majority owner Farhad Moshiri.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News [13 December] Winter revealed that incomings may not be the main priority during the January transfer window, saying: “There will be funds, [it will] be interesting to see how much of that is actually used in the January transfer window, given that they have significant players out of contract.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Michael Keane, Seamus Coleman, there are also question marks over the future of Jarrad Branthwaite.

“So, whether it is actually just addressing those contract situations, Branthwaite will probably leave next summer anyway or bringing players in, they do need some new blood, but I think the focus will probably be on Sean Dyche as well.”

Everton may face a wait for Transfers

The Blues have 11 senior players who will be out of contract next summer as it stands.

As well as the stars mentioned by Winter, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Young and back-up goalkeepers Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic are all set to leave for free at the moment.

The squad will also lose loanees Armando Broja, Orel Mangala, Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom at the end of the season.

Therefore, the Friedkin Group may decide to focus on renewing the players that they feel are a part of the new era at the club rather than dipping into the market.

Also, with Sean Dyche’s future subject to heavy speculation, they may decide to wait until they have made their own appointment to spend money on transfers.

One thing is certain, it promises to be an exciting time at Goodison Park in the next couple of months before the move to Bramley-Moore Stadium next season.

In other Everton news, UEFA approval will be needed before a new Merseyside derby date is decided upon.
