Heung-min Son shares what he admires about Liverpool after Tottenham lose 6-3

Heung-min Son captained Tottenham on a painful evening against Liverpool.

The South Korea international watched his side concede six goals to the Reds in N17 to ensure a 6-3 win for Liverpool, a result which keeps them top of the Premier League while Spurs sit 11th.

After such a drubbing, the Tottenham No.7 looked close to tears when speaking to Sky Sports in his post-match interview, but Heung-min Son still found time to praise Liverpool and share one specific thing he admires about the Reds.

Heung-min Son impressed by how disciplined Liverpool are

Speaking to Sky Sports, Son said: “Very disappointed with the result and conceding six goals is really painful. What can I say? As a footballer, you always want to play. At the moment we have to work hard. I don’t want to make any excuses. We tried to be as sharp as possible.

“There’s no question, they are top of the league. You can see quality players with top discipline. There’s a reason they are top. If you give them a mistake, they punish you.”

Son makes a good point.

Not only do Liverpool possess elite talents such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but each player is humble enough to put the hard graft in as well, with nobody in red displaying any arrogance despite sitting four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.

Arne Slot has clearly coached his team to not just play a scintillating style of football, but he has injected an industrial side into how they operate too – making 26 tackles compared to 19 from Spurs.

Mohamed Salah makes Premier League history

Salah – who called Tottenham an “intense” side – epitomises Liverpool’s humility more than anybody.

Despite being the best player in Europe this season, the Egypt international still runs his socks off and inspires teammates to do likewise, when he would have every right to slack off a bit given his immense end product.

Salah, who has been offered a new contract, now has 15 goals and 11 assists in just 16 Premier League appearances this season after netting twice and assisting twice against Tottenham, becoming the first player in Premier League history to hit double figures for both before Christmas.

That is quite remarkable, and if the Liverpool No.11 maintains this stunning form, Slot will surely win the title in his first season at Anfield.
