'I think': Gary Lineker makes interesting claim about Dominic Solanke after his two-goal triumph against Villa
He's right❗
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Dominic Solanke enjoyed a massive second half performance against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Once again, Ange Postecoglou watched his Tottenham side go 1-0 down in N17, a goal that seemed to be a product of Guglielmo Vicario’s uncertainty when defending corners.
Perhaps the Italian wasn’t entirely to be blamed for the moment that saw Morgan Rogers open the scoring, but Vicario is hardly giving his defenders reason to feel confident.
Either way, Solanke and his teammates were able to rescue the game and three points in the second half, a pulsating attacking display.
Dejan Kulusevski was at the heart everything good about Spurs once again, but it was Solanke’s name that appeared twice on the scoresheet.
Gary Lineker praises Dominic Solanke’s mental strength at Tottenham
After a slightly difficult start at Tottenham, Gary Lineker was delighted to see Solanke among the goals when speaking on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast.
Lineker praised the striker’s mental strength for several tough periods he’s overcome in his career, claiming that he looks well-equipped to succeed in north London.

Lineker said: “I like him a lot, I think he’s come on, I think he’s come on. I think he’s been a slow developer, hasn’t he, over the years.
“Struggled at Liverpool, but then scored a lot of goals in the Championship. Then he came and now at Bournemouth he’d done really well in the previous season.
“Then it was obviously a big signing for Tottenham and you wonder whether he could step, didn’t have the greatest of darts, missed one or two chances early on.
“That, the way he’s come out of that and still scoring goals, makes me think he’s mentally strong enough for that role now, but I think his touches are good, he holds it up well, his movement is really good in the box.
“We saw that obviously for both of his goals really, particularly the tap in on, but it was the right way to, he gambled on where the ball might go.
“I think he’s got a really, really good all round game.”
Ange Postecoglou still has one big worry at Tottenham
After an indifferent start to the season, Tottenham are now in seventh place after 10 games played.
Spurs caught significant ground up on Aston Villa following their 4-1 win, and will now also have their eyes on both Arsenal and Chelsea who have been inconsistent too.

Postecoglou’s side face Ipswich Town before the final international break of the year.
And whilst nothing less than three points will satisfy against a team who will be in a relegation race, beating Kieran McKenna’s side will be no easy task.
And Postecoglou must be craving a rare clean sheet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, something that would make winning games a whole lot easier.
