Ibrox View: Rangers simply can't let attacker go for £500k as Four Lads makes suggestion

Four Lads want Rangers to sell Rabbi Matondo for £500,000 to get him “off the books” – but it looks impossible after the financial information shared at the AGM.

The Gers have suffered from financial issues over the year and it has been revealed that methods are in place to reduce wages and the average age of the squad at Ibrox.

This has seen the salary spend in the squad decrease by £6million in a year to £35m while the average age also fell to 23.5 [Chris Jack].

The Light Blues’ hierarchy are looking to make changes but if they are to sell any stars in January, they need to bring in a reasonable fee.

Rangers can’t continue negative trend with Rabbi Matondo sale

In the latest transfer window, the Ibrox club made just £810k from the sales of Sam Lammers, Connor Goldson, Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Robbie McCrorie which just isn’t enough.

This is a trend that the new board in Govan need to try and change moving forward and that has to start in the upcoming winter window.

This won’t be helped if the Four Lads are to get their wish to sell Matondo after frequent injury concerns in recent months.

Writing via X on 3 December, they said: “I got all sorts of grief for saying I would take a £500k fee just to get him off the books because he was never available.”

Although it is frustrating that the Wales international has dealt with fitness problems, adding him to the list of stars leaving for a nominal fee isn’t a wise move.

The 24-year-old has lots to offer to the Gers with his pace and directness, shown by his strike against Celtic in April.

It is worth holding out and hoping that his form improves when he returns to the side rather than the ex-Schalke man being another ace to leave Ibrox for a cheap fee.

In other Rangers news, Andrew Newport has shared how Philippe Clement could be sacked within days.
