Philippe Clement can hold his head high after Rangers battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Thursday.

The Gers enjoyed an incredible performance against Tottenham in the Europa League as Hamza Igamane’s 47th-minute strike secured the draw at Ibrox [12 December] and piled further pressure on former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

Rangers remain on track to secure passage to the knockout stages of the Europa League but now all eyes will turn to Hampden Park and the upcoming Scottish League Cup final clash against Celtic on Sunday [15 December].

Here, Ibrox News offers player ratings from the game.

Jack Butland – 6

The Englishman surprisngly had little to do on the night but remained composed in the brief spells in which the visitor’s threatened.

James Tavernier – 7

He proved his doubters wrong with a phenomenal performance against Tottenham. The Gers captain kept Timo Werner and Dejan Kulusevski quiet on the right flank and provided the match-winning assist for Igamane. A perfect outing for the 33-year-old.

John Souttar [off for Leon Balogun 35′] – 6

Barely put a foot wrong on the night but was forced off after the half-hour mark with a fresh injury concern for the Light Blues.

Robin Propper – 7

The Dutchman looked suspect at times when the Spurs attack bore down on the Gers goal but he managed to hold his ground. He played his role expertly in keeping a clean sheet against Premier League opposition.

Jefte – 6

Jefte was guilty of losing possession on far too many occassions throughout the first half and lacked composure in front of the Spurs goal. The full-back looked more composed throughout the second 45 minutes but could have had more of an influence on the contest.

Nedim Bajrami [off for Connor Barron 68′] – 5

The Albanian will be the most relieved man in Glasgow as Igamane’s match-winning strike spared his blushes. Rangers could and should have taken a one-goal lead into the break as Bajrami allowed an inch-perfect cross fly past with the Spurs goal gaping. He offered little attacking threat throughout and was carried by his Gers teammates.

Nicolas Raskin – 6

Raskin played his role well, helping Rangers keep the ball moving against Tottenham but offered no impact in the business end of the pitch. He can be proud of his display at Ibrox but was overshadowed by his teammates on the night.

Vaclav Cerny [off for Dujon Sterling 69′] – 7

Cerny found himself in front of the Spurs goal with the ball at his feet more often than not but was unable to find the back of the net. The Czech international was at the heart of the Rangers attack and was unlucky not to top off his performance with a goal.

Mohammed Diomande – 7

Diomande will miss the next Europa League clash against Manchester United for a needless handball offence in the first half. Regardless, the 23-year-old dominated the midfield battle and was far and away the best deep-lying midfielder on the pitch.

Ridvan Yilmaz [off for Robbie Fraser 80′] – 6

The Turkish international looked lively down the left flank throughout the first half but his influence wavered as the match wore on. Nevertheless, Yilmaz has certainly laid down a statement for further first team involvement.

Hamza Igamane [off for Cyriel Dessers 80′] – 9

The Moroccan is undoubtedly now the undisputed option to lead the line at Ibrox with his all-important goal against Tottenham. Igamane had only one shot on target on the night and that was all he needed to ensure Rangers secured a share of the spoils. He proved a nuisance to the opposition defence all night as Spurs had no answer to thwart the 22-year-old.

Substitutes

Leon Balogun – 7

Entered the contest in the most difficult of circumstances and stepped into the side without missing a beat – he dealt with everything Spurs threw his way.

Connor Barron – 6

The Scotland international did his job when called upon and helped Rangers keep hold of the ball.

Dujon Sterling – 5

The right-back struggled to make an impact in a more advanced role after replacing Cerny.

Cyriel Dessers – 5

The Nigerian looked like he had given Rangers a late winner with two late chances with the latter denied by the offside flag.

Robbie Fraser – 5

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement will have one eye on Chelsea ace at the Gers amid exit developments.
