'I'm surprised': ESPN pundit thinks Liverpool player may have just taken a 'gigantic shot' at Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool enjoyed plenty of success under Jurgen Klopp, but one pundit in particular thinks that a recent comment from a Liverpool player was a bit of a cheap shot at the German.

Arne Slot has transformed Liverpool‘s defence and midfield since coming to Anfield, with just one goal conceded in the Premier League in five games.

The Reds also secured a win in their opening game of the Champions League campaign as AC Milan were dealt with at the San Siro.

Jurgen Klopp will go down as one of the best managers to have ever taken the hot set at Anfield, with a Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup title, one Premier League, one UEFA Super Cup, one FA Cup, one English League Cup and one Community Shield to show for his efforts.

However, ESPN pundit Ale Moreno believes that one Liverpool player’s recent comments are a shot at the German manager.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s comments on Slot’s approach

Interestingly, it was claimed that staleness crept into training towards the end of Klopp’s time at Liverpool, so perhaps the change in management has freshened things up.

One player who was slammed for his defending last season was Trent Alexander-Arnold, as he often left gaps and was exploited down the right-hand side.

The defender has come out and spoken about the approach Slot has taken when it comes to his defending and errors at Liverpool, as per Mirror.

“We agreed he would be harsh on me, anytime an attacker got by me, he would call it out in meetings and individual meetings and say this can’t happen.

“We go through every game together, our highlights and where he wants me to improve. Even the Milan game, we had about 20 clips going through what I could have done better and the good parts as well.

“It’s really refreshing to have a manager that will help and guide and teach me how to be better as a player.

“I’m someone who wants to learn, someone who wants to be the best, and someone who strives to be the best ever.”

ESPN pundit thinks Liverpool star has indirectly taken a ‘gigantic shot’ at Jurgen Klopp

Ale Moreno of ESPN, when speaking on the ESPN UK YouTube channel, has stated that he thinks that Trent’s comments are a ‘gigantic shot’ at Jurgen Klopp.

“I’m surprised, when he’s saying he wants to be called out in meetings and individual meetings, was that not happening before? Was he not being told what to do, how to do it and when to do it?

“Because if that’s the case it’s a gigantic shot at Jurgen Klopp and his staff. I mean it is a referendum what those guys were doing.

“Because we could see it was an issue. According to Alexander-Arnold, apparently he knew it was an issue, but nobody was saying anything so I guess we just continue to play that way.”
