‘It is great’: Ange Postecoglou admits player Tottenham sold for £7m is looking really good at his new club

Tottenham Hotspur are back in north London on Thursday night where they will be playing in the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have made a solid start to the season in the European competition with two wins from their opening two games.

The competition is providing Tottenham with the opportunity to rotate their squad as they bring in some of their younger players.

This is also offering some of their summer arrivals with the chance to prove their worth to Postecoglou as they look to establish themselves in N17.

However, it is a player who only left the club during the summer who is catching the eye of the Australian manager at Tottenham.

Tottenham summer sale impressing Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham allowed a number of players to leave over the summer with players departing through a variety of means.

Some players departed only until the end of the season but others decided to try something new with a new club on a permanent basis.

And one of those players was Troy Parrott who departed north London for AZ Alkmaar in a deal believed to be worth around £7m.

Parrott will return to N17 on Thursday night with his new side and Postecoglou has hailed the start to the season he has made over in the Netherlands.

“It is good to see Troy doing well, I think he had a great loan spell in the Dutch League last year,” Postecoglou told the media on Wednesday.

“He is looking like he started his AZ career in positive fashion too so it is great. In terms of getting a chance, sometimes in football it is just about timing.”

Across his 11 appearances in all competitions, Parrott has scored six goals for his new side.

“We have a striker here mate who was at Chelsea and Liverpool early in his career and he has done alright since. There is a pathway forward for everybody,” Postecoglou added.

Tottenham have another young striker prospect in Will Lankshear

As Parrott departed for the exit, another young striker began to make a name for himself in north London in the shape of Will Lankshear.

The 19-year-old has struggled slightly for minutes this term having suffered with an injury issue but he did start the previous Europa League game away to Ferencvaros.

However, Richarlison has now made his return from injury ahead of the game on Thursday night so Lankshear’s minutes may be put on hold.

And it has to be questioned if the youngster may have to follow the likes of Parrott and seek opportunities on loan before then trying to make his mark at Tottenham.
