'It's A Mystery' - Stefan Borson taken aback by 'Very Strange' Rangers and Aberdeen situation

Rangers shouldn’t still be waiting to find out how much compensation they will be forced to pay Aberdeen following the summer signing of Connor Barron.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it’s a “mystery” why the tribunal hasn’t yet revealed what the fee will be for the midfielder.

Rangers signed Barron on a four-year contract in June following the expiration of his deal at Aberdeen.

The clubs could not agree on a development fee for the 22-year-old, who had been at Pittodrie since the age of eight, leading to a Scottish Professional Football League tribunal.

But Aberdeen’s chief executive Alan Burrows criticised the process at the club’s AGM this week after admitting the situation has “dragged on too long”.

Rangers should have received Connor Barron verdict after delay

Borson agrees the tribunal should have delivered its verdict by now after the deal was agreed six months ago.

“It’s very strange,” Borson told Football Insider.

“I don’t really know why it would take this sort of time.

“I would have thought both parties would have put forward submissions for why they believe the number should be a certain amount.

“The decision should be relatively straight forward.

“In the English Premier League, the way they want those to work from a fair market value perspective, which is a similar sort of process, they want it to be on the player side.

“They want it to work quite quickly.
