'I've been saying...' - Keith Jackson makes 'Absolute Recalibration' verdict at Rangers

Keith Jackson claims Rangers need an “absolute recalibration” after everything that has gone wrong at Ibrox recently.

The Gers have not only lost members of their hierarchy such as John Bennett and, seemingly imminently, Creag Robertson but have also found themselves stagnating on the pitch.

Jackson believes that although interim chairman John Gilligan will have the club’s best intentions at heart, there needs to be a complete rethink across the board after a series of woes this season..

“John Gilligan is obviously in there as a caretaker chairman,” Jackson said on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (9 October).

“He’s a well-intentioned guy with the club’s best interests at heart, there’s no doubt about it but everywhere he looks, something else is falling down.

“Whether it’s the stand, whether it’s the chief executive, whether it’s the former chairman, everything is going wrong.

“I’ve been saying it for a while, they need an absolute recalibration from top to bottom”.

Rangers need to make changes as quickly as possible

Rangers have had a topsy-turvy season thus far, even before Bennett’s sudden resignation due to health reasons [The Athletic, 14 September], the club were contending with issues on and off the pitch.

They dropped points to Hearts, who are now bottom of the Scottish Premiership, on the opening day and resoundingly lost 3-0 to Celtic on 1 September in the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Although there have been some positive results since then, the Gers still seem to revert back to their old ways on occasion, just as they did against Lyon in their 4-1 Europa League loss.

It’s still early in the season of course and Rangers still have plenty of time to turn their fortunes around, however, at the moment, it feels like the club have stagnated.

Indeed, the January transfer window isn’t too far away and, with interim chairman Gilligan saying to Sky Sports (24 September) that Rangers will have money to spend in the market, changes will hopefully be coming soon.

If not, the Gers could get into a rather sticky situation and find themselves in the shadow of Celtic once again.
