Jakub Kiwior will never start for Arsenal again and needs to be sold after his mistake led to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s goal in the League Cup, according to fans.
The Polish international has been constantly linked with moves away as he has not had many minutes with the defensive duo of Gabriel and William Saliba.
He made an early mistake against Crystal Palace, putting the Gunners behind within four minutes as he was bullied off the ball. He mistimed a header, allowing the French forward to glide past him and calmly slot into the net.
Arsenal signed the centre-back in January 2023 for around €20 million (£17.6m) from Spezia to provide defensive cover [BBC Sport].
Arsenal fans take frustrations out as Mikel Arteta nearly misses another trophy
Supporters of the club have expressed their frustrations on social media regarding the club’s current position.
This discontent worsened when Mikel Arteta was labelled “embarrassing” for claiming credit for winning three trophies.
The North London club faces the prospect of nearing five years without a trophy if this season ends without silverware.
Arteta named a heavily rotated starting XI against Crystal Palace, featuring players like Jorginho, Raheem Sterling, and Kieran Tierney.
Entrusting players who have barely played this season was always a risky move in a cup quarter-final. It may explain Arsenal’s recent struggles in knockout competitions, as it took a Gabriel Jesus hat-trick to fight back and win here.
Consequently, Kiwior came under heavy criticism for an early mistake. Amid transfer links suggesting his departure, many Arsenal fans seem indifferent to seeing him leave.
One fan declared they “never want to see” Kiwior start again, while another questioned the transfer, asking, “Who was behind that signing?”
Fans generally agree that the club should sell him in the New Year, blaming him as the “cause of so many goals conceded”.
In other news, two Arsenal forwards may leave the club as attacking issues persist.
