Newcastle United could be boosted by the return of Joe Willock sooner rather than later after his latest Instagram story.
The injured midfielder took to social media to share a video of himself back in training with a clock emoji, teasing his comeback.
Willock suffered a thigh injury during the victory over Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on 28 August.
The 25-year-old had made a perfect start to that game after scoring in the opening 20 seconds, but he only lasted 15 minutes before suffering the injury.
Willock has played for 20 minutes during Newcastle’s draw against Bournemouth in the Premier League, but then had to miss the game against Tottenham.
The international break came at the right time for him as it has meant missing fewer games, and his social media tease has shown he’s close to returning.
Joe Willock will give Newcastle United a boost
It’s unclear whether or not Willock will be fit enough for Newcastle’s upcoming fixture against Wolves on Sunday (15 September), but he is nearing a return.
Willock’s 2023-24 campaign was plagued by injuries, having missed 29 games in the Premier League due to Achilles tendon and hamstring issues.
The midfielder was only able to make 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.
Willock has made 104 appearances for Newcastle since he joined the club, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists.
The Magpies currently sit fifth in the Premier League and remain one of only five teams to still be undefeated.
