Joshua Barrie expects Todd Cantwell to leave Rangers before the end of the window so a replacement option can be signed.
It has been made clear that the 26-year-old wants to complete a move away from Ibrox with Philippe Clement confirming this during preseason.
The new Scottish Premiership season has now begun and the ex-Norwich City man hasn’t moved on.
Barrie spoke out on The Rangers Review on 20 August suggesting the attacking midfielder will make way for new signings for the Gers.
He said: “Cantwell is now 26, he’ll be moving to another club. It remains to be seen where that is. Rangers do expect to be able to get him off the wage bill before the end of the transfer window.
“That number ten position in particular, Rangers need options in there and they need to get Hagi and Cantwell out the door so they can bring in, not only quality behind Tom Lawrence, a starting player in that position.”

The Light Blues have been desperate to get rid of Cantwell and Hagi since the beginning of the season with their heads away from Ibrox.
Clement has made it clear that if they don’t want to be there, they won’t play and a move away will be assessed.
The Englishman has a positive pedigree after his time in the Premier League and should have taken to the Scottish Premiership like a duck to water.
That hasn’t happened, especially since Michael Beale’s departure was confirmed, which is disappointing for all parties involved.
There is no doubt that if he could find some form he would be a talent in Glasgow and could prove to be one of the best players in the league.
This is similar to Hagi who had a terrific EUROs and looked set to be on the right track to becoming a key player for Rangers.
That hasn’t happened for either player and now an exit appears to be on the cards for both players.
