Journo View: Clement sack 'inevitable', Rangers could hire Alex Ferguson-endorsed boss

Dan Bardell believes Philippe Clement will be sacked by Rangers this season with Derek McInnes mooted as a potential replacement after Sir Alex Ferguson’s endorsement.

The Belgian has come under pressure this season for the Gers’ form which has left them sitting nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

This has seen multiple new managers mooted to the role at Ibrox with the Kilmarnock boss linked just as he was in 2017 [Scottish Sun].

Back then Ferguson was willing to supply him with a reference [The Times] which Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes could help him land the job with the Light Blues.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “I think Clement is going to be under pressure until he goes.

“The constant noise around his future can’t be easy for him, at this point his sacking feels inevitable this season.

“He’ll be replaced and McInnes would probably come up as one of the top names. Having Sir Alex Ferguson’s endorsement will do him no harm in terms of being up for the job.

“It’s not an easy job, I wouldn’t look at Clement as a bad manager but he looks and feels tired.“

Other than Steven Gerrard, no manager has truly succeeded at Ibrox in recent years with Clement set to be the latest name to lose his job with the Gers.

If the ex-Monaco boss does depart, a move for a coach with experience in the Scottish Premiership may prove to be wise and who better than McInnes?

The 53-year-old has had the backing of Manchester United legend Ferguson in the past and with him moving close to Ibrox, he could be handed a boost to leave Killie and takeover the Light Blues.
