Dan Bardell believes Vaclav Cerny will be “reluctant to commit” to Rangers after his recent comments about his future.
The Gers loanee has said that he will “return to Wolfsburg after this season” and believes there is “no point” talking about his future yet [Football Scotland].
This would come as a blow to the Light Blues given how the Czechia international has performed in his opening 10 Scottish Premiership appearances.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist has suggested the uncertainty surrounding Ibrox will have a telling impact on the 27-year-old’s future with the Old Firm club.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “Things can change very quickly. If Rangers hit an upturn then those sorts of messages could be different.
“It’s just the nature of where Rangers are at the minute, everything feels uncertain in terms of players, manager, board, even the stadium at the start of the season.
“When places get like that, players will be reluctant to commit and you can understand that.
“Cerny’s future is out of his hands really and I’m not sure that Rangers could afford him anyway but I just think it’s the environment that leads to players saying these things.“
Vaclav Cerny ‘reluctant to commit’ future to Rangers
The winger has proved to be one of, if not the Gers’, most important players this season as he has contributed with six goals across all competitions.
This has come despite a difficult start to life in Govan but Cerny now appears to be a nailed-on starter under Philippe Clement every week.
The ex-Ajax man was on the scoresheet in the draw against Dundee United (23 November) and was once again a rare bright spark in a dark season.
With him seemingly unsure about his future with the Light Blues, this could be damaging given his recent importance to the squad.
In other Rangers news, Michael Gannon has predicted whether Philippe Clement will be sacked in a panto-style twist.
