Journo View: Rangers 'will live to regret' not completing this summer transfer

Dan Bardell believes Rangers will regret it if they don’t sign Lawrence Shankland from Hearts.

Links to the Hearts captain haven’t gone away since he was linked to a move to Ibrox before the last January transfer window [PLZ Soccer].

The Scotland international has just a year left on his contract at Tynecastle this summer after reportedly rejecting extension offers earlier this year [The Scottish Sun].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the Gers should reignite their interest and get a deal done for the 28-year-old this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “Shankland is a player for me that Rangers definitely should be trying to sign.

For them, the basics for their transfer strategy should be snapping up the best players in the Scottish Premiership and he is definitely one of those.

He’d aid the squad even if he wasn’t a guaranteed starter to begin with. I think Rangers should be doing their utmost to sign him and will live to regret it if they don’t.

Rangers urged to sign Lawrence Shankland

Philippe Clement has already added Hamza Igamane to his squad from the transfer market but has been urged to sign Shankland.

The Hearts star star registered 31 goals in all competitions and there is no doubt that his goals at Ibrox would be welcomed with open arms.

The Scot has already shown his goalscoring exploits in preseason, getting on the scoresheet against Tottenham Hotspur at Tynecastle Park.

With Danilo and Cyriel Dessers already at the club, with Igamane joining, there may not be a need for Shankland for the Light Blues right now.

In other Rangers news, the club are now set to make a bid to seal summer transfer No.7 with James Tavernier’s sale funding it.
