Julian Nagelsmann tells Arsenal star he can become ‘world class in many positions’
'He runs an incredible amount and has become very clever.'
Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann believes Arsenal forward Kai Havertz ‘has the potential to be world class in many positions’.
Nagelsmann’s side kicked off their Nations League campaign with an impressive 5-0 victory over Hungary in Dusseldorf on Saturday evening.
Germany took the lead in the first half through Niclas Fullkrug, while Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Havertz all found the net after the break.
Havertz delivered an impressive performance in a free-roaming role behind Fullkrug and Maximilian Beier for his national side.
And Nagelsmann believes feels the 25-year-old has the potential to become one of the world’s best versatile players.
‘Kai has made a big leap forward in the last two years,’ said Nagelsmann.
‘He has the potential to be world class in many positions.
‘He runs an incredible amount and has become very clever. He sometimes lacks a bit of finishing luck.
‘The co-captaincy is good for him. He is a smart person, very reflective. He is very modest. I hope he continues to believe in himself.’
Nagelsmann also issued a major prediction for both Wirtz and Musiala.
‘They have the talent, they can do anything,’ he said.
‘They have to stay healthy. Their hard work is crucial. Not every run is worthwhile, but they are out and about a lot.
‘They get a lot of balls, even defensively. Both are nice, normal guys. Neither is aloof. Both have the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.’
