Rangers are set to hold their AGM on 5 December and Keith Jackson believes Philippe Clement will be on the agenda.
Writing for the Daily Record [2 December], the journalist feels the future of the Belgian will be top of the list as senior figures prepare to meet at Clyde Auditorium.
The 50-year-old has been under pressure at the Light Blues for some time now, with the Bears sitting third in the Scottish Premiership table, 11 points behind Celtic.
Jackson has questioned whether Clement will last the next few weeks at Ibrox, writing: “It should be a feisty one as patience is thin on the ground.
“Number one on the agenda has to be the immediate future of manager Philippe Clement and will he see out the month of December if he suffers another Old Firm beating in the League Cup Final.”
Philippe Clement can’t last at Rangers with poor performances
The Belgian manager bought himself some time with the 4-1 win over OGC Nice in the Europa League on 28 November, but the Gers didn’t look great in the 1-0 victory over St Johnstone.
McDiarmid Park hosted the Light Blues in the league on 1 December, and despite getting the three points away from home, the Bears’ performance wasn’t convincing, with an own goal from Jason Holt needed.
The 50-year-old head coach has found it challenging to bring the best out of his team this season, especially the forward line.
In the current campaign, Rangers have scored just three goals away from home in the Scottish Premiership, with Cyriel Dessers showcasing his profligacy.
Hamza Igamane has been handed the mantle in the number nine position in the previous two fixtures, and the Moroccan has brought some much-needed freshness to the Gers’ attack.
It’s baffling to see the Light Blues putting in impressive displays in Europe against top sides but struggling on the domestic front.
The Bears have confirmed that Patrick Stewart will start his duties as the new CEO on 16 December, a day after the Old Firm derby in the Scottish League Cup final.
Clement’s future should rightfully be up for discussion, and if the Ibrox chiefs have anything about them, they’ll conclude that the former Monaco manager isn’t the right man to take the Glaswegian outfit forward.
In other Rangers news, an injury update has emerged regarding Dujon Sterling for the Kilmarnock fixture.
