Keith Wyness drops verdict as £200m+ Man City document submitted

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted the £210million Man City cash injection “means nothing” and is just “housekeeping”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the development is not a sign of a “new investor or minority partner coming in”.

A Companies House submission on 28 August confirmed City Football Group (CFG) – the owners of Man City – have issued £210million of A Preference Shares.

The Abu Dhabi United Group owns 78.7 per cent of CFG and founded the multi-club group after buying the English club in 2008.

City have been embroiled in a fight with the Premier League since last year (2023), when they were charged with 115 breaches of financial rules.

Man City share issue is ‘just housekeeping’, says Wyness

The English champions will have their case heard by an independent commission from later this year.

Responding to the share issue, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It means nothing, really.

“It will help with the PSR issues, it will help clear debt. It’s just a bit of housekeeping, so there’s nothing major to look at in that transaction.

“It’s not like there is a new investor or minority partner coming in.

“This will be just tidying up the books to a degree.

“I think there’s nothing really to see here.”

In other news, Kevin De Bruyne expected to sign deal after City talks.
