Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for some clarity as Tottenham prepare to undergo a behind-the-scenes review of their medical department.
Spurs are missing several first-team players at the moment, particularly defenders, with Cristian Romero being ruled out for six weeks having only just returned from injury [via Gastón Edul on X, 9 December].
Romero’s centre-back partner Micky van de Ven is also facing yet another spell on the sidelines [via Paul O Keefe on X, 11 December], while Ben Davies might not be seen again until January. As a result, Tottenham are preparing to undergo a second review of their medical department in less than a year [via The Standard, 12 December].
And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has been left shocked by the number of injury issues in North London.
“This is extremely frustrating for Spurs,” King said.
“Players at the club are continuing to pick up injuries almost weekly. The first thing that comes to my mind is what is the state of the warming up and fitness programme that they’re all on.
“It just seems like an extraordinary amount of injuries for a club to be suffering from at once.”
Tottenham to review medical department as injury crisis worsens
It is hard to blame Spurs for undertaking yet another review of their medical department. It feels as though since Ange Postecoglou arrived at the club each and every first-team player has been out injured at one point or another.
Therefore, it is hard not to have concerns about what is going on behind the scenes at the club.
Postecoglou is under immense pressure and needs a “remarkable” turnaround to save his long-term future at Spurs.
However, with the number of injuries he has in his squad, that is looking like an increasingly difficult thing to do. Therefore, he will be hopeful, perhaps more than anyone, that his review of the medal department provides the club with some much-needed answers.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy has been told to hire Massimiliano Allegri after a “monumental” update on Postecoglou.
