Real Madrid look set to lose out on 18-year-old Leny Yoro barring a late twist, with the defender booked to travel to England for a medical with Manchester United. Lille accepted an offer of €50m plus €12m in variables from United last week, and now the Red Devils are in discussions over personal terms.
The deal is yet to be wrapped up, with work still to be done, but Diario AS are reporting that Yoro will earn around to €9m per year, and will sign a five-year deal. It is a figure well above what he would earn in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid maintained they would not overspend on a deal for a player who was out of contract next summer, believing Yoro would continue to prioritise a move to the Santiago Bernabeu regardless of what offers arrived.
For context, Real Madrid’s top earners arriving at the club of late, with the exception of Kylian Mbappe, are believed to be earning €11-12m per year, meaning Yoro would be earning close to star wages like those of Jude Bellingham or Vinicius Junior. In recent years, Real Madrid have been strict on their economic policy, only investing big in young players, but also maintaining a salary structure.
