Levy disappoints Postecoglou as sources share Tottenham transfer news

Ange Postecoglou is facing frustration at Tottenham as Daniel Levy is unwilling to increase the budget for the January transfer window, according to Give Me Sport.

The outlet reported via its website on 30 December that sources have said Postecoglou is likely to only have £25million to spend when the window opens this week despite eyeing reinforcements in multiple positions.

He is hopeful that Levy, who is taking advice from Fabio Paratici [talkSPORT] makes a U-turn and adds more money to the kitty, but Spurs are in serious danger of missing out on main targets as things stand.

It is unclear why Levy does not want to increase the transfer budget despite Tottenham not having any PSR constraints [The Athletic].

It is evident that Spurs need to strengthen their squad in several areas if they want to avoid their season derailing further.

The North Londoners find themselves 11th in the Premier League, sitting closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top four.

With Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies sidelined with injuries, Postecoglou is prioritising the signing of a new centre-back in January.

However, the former Celtic boss also wants to bring in a new central midfielder and a wide attacker. A goalkeeper may also be considered amid Guglielmo Vicario’s injury.

He will likely have to dip into the loan market if he wants to bolster his options in all those areas next month, with the £25m budget proving prohibitive.
